Friends Conservation Group – Monthly Volunteer work group on Midhurst Common
The Friends Conservation Group will meet on the Last Friday of each month. We meet at the Carron Lane car park, Midhurst (at the top by the cemetery) at 10am and walk to the work site on Midhurst Common. This is usually in the cleared area at the base of Sunset Hill. For anyone who knows the area, it may be preferred to proceed directly to the site. The work of the group generally involves clearing rhododendron, bracken, birch and general maintenance of the re-establish heath areas. It is rewarding at the end of the day to stand back and see the difference we are making in maintaining the area for wildlife and for the general public to enjoy.
We do ask that suitable clothing and substantial, comfortable footwear is worn and bring along gardening type gloves,if you have them. Come along for a short period of 1 to 2 hours – as a taster session, or come for the day, which usually finishes about 3pm to 3.30pm. Please bring along a drink and lunch, if staying all day.
